Tea time

I'm originally from Yorkshire.  We have a strong belief that a cup of tea solves everything.  My husband is from the midlands, and he quite likes tea too, but since we've been living in London he seems to have turned into a coffee drinker.  Don't get me wrong, I love the smell of coffee.  But it doesn't fix everything in the same way that tea does.

I'm also used to drinking strong tea.  and Decaf.  I grew up on decaf.  Probably better for me, but I'm guessing it explains why I always feel tired in comparison to all the hyped up caffeine heads.

Anyways, whilst I was in the supermarket a couple of weeks ago I decided to expand my tea horizons.  I stood staring at all the different brands and boxes for a good 15 minutes.  How did I decide which to go for? It was a miserable day and the thought of chai sounded nice.  After I'd narrowed it down this far, I used the same method I use to buy wine.  Which packaging looks prettiest?  (I know... I'm such a GIRL!!!)

Armed with my Dragonfly Cape Malay Rooibos Chai Organic (how posh do I sound?!) I came home.  My husband and I both tried some. He really liked it.  I liked it too but what I wasn't sure about was that it just will not get stronger the longer you leave the bag in (to me this is strange tea behaviour)! The next day he went and bought Dragonfly Organic Earl Grey (I'm not a fan of Earl Grey).  A week later I got Dragonfly Moroccan Mint Green Organic Tea. (*note, this post has not been sponsored by Dragonfly).  Now our cupboard looks quite funny, it has hubby's various coffees on one side and our various teas on the other.  No room for food anymore ;-)

What I like is that now when the weather is hideous outside or if I'm feeling sorry for myself or a bit poorly, I have lots to choose from.  And because a lot of it is caffeine free, I think it counts towards my 8 glasses of water a day, right?

You can look at the packaging that sucked me in and learn more about the teas here.

I am very fond of a orange-jasmine-green tea mix and always in the mood for a chai latte or mint green tea. I am NOT a coffee drinker...it taste like burnt dirt to me, (no I don't actually know what burnt dirt tastes like but I would bet money that it is very similar to coffee) LOL I am a caffine freak, I will admit. I drink soda for breakfast to wake up. *shame* But once the kiddies are off to school I will grab a teabag and sit quietly for a few minutes and enjoy a cup of tea. ;)

I am a total TEA FREAK! You name it, I'll try it in a cuppa. I like black teas best, followed by white teas. Perhaps we should all have a TEA PARTY post soon. ;-)

We were a coffee drinking family until my parents went to Sri Lanka for their hols. They visited a plantation where they were told "the best tea is bought by such and such a country, then so and so gets the next best" etc. Finally it came down to "and Britain buys the dust that's left over". Anyway, my parents bought some big chunky tea and it was so good we all converted from coffee immediately. I've searched and searched and can't find anything similar. Very sad :(

orange-jasmine-green tea sounds interesting! I don't know how you can drink soda for breakfast... I can only do that to help a hangover ;-)

what a fab story... I really hope we aren't still getting the leftover dust! My favourite tea I think was the one I had when we went to the Dorchester for afternoon tea...amazing flavour!

Hi Jo...I got your parcel today...thank you very much:)

My son took a course on tea at a local college and he is officially a Tea Sommelier. He actually taught a few courses on the subject but it's not his full time occupation. Tea and the drinking of same is a big deal in my family:)

I'm also a monster tea drinker, but I like mine weak. Half way through last year I decided I needed to try some other teas and I came home with and quite enjoyed, Twinings Camomile and Spicy Apple and Twinings Fennel. Both lovely, but I do still prefer the old style English tea :)

I do absolutely love the smell of coffee but don't drink it.
