Mid October Updates

It's been a while since I did a project update... there are a few things I've got on the go... I don't always feel like hefting the big frame into the lounge so it's good to have a few handheld bits to do as well.

I did manage to put in 100 or so stitches on this one this week...doesn't look all that different from the last update, but there was LOADS of confetti... I'm actually looking forward to getting back to the big chunks of black trees.

A small Pooh bear Xmas card that has been in my stash for absolutely years... I made a mistake with it when I was quite near the beginning so it went away for an age... I'm hoping I've fixed it up enough now, and I've counted the stitches so many times that I went cross eyed and I couldn't figure out if there were any mistakes left to fix so I'm hoping for the best.

This little one is stitched on perforated card and is a Nutmeg Company design.  I really love their cards, and my family have received them on many occasions.  A bit more difficult to stitch on perforated card as your needle slips out constantly, but such a nice way to make a card.

And finally a small update to this one...It seems like I have a bit of a thing about cottages and houses, doesn't it?! Again, loads of confetti in the tree and going a bit cross eyed, but I made a bit of progress on this while we watched the amazing Endeavour series on TV... I hope there's another one coming soon - it's good to have things to watch while you stitch... probably why I have mistakes dotted all over my pieces, hehe!

Back to the stitching

I've finally picked up my massive project again, Moonlit Waters.  I can't believe how long I've been doing it, and I'm hoping to get on with it a bit more quickly, but honestly today has been full of so much confetti that I'm not sure how long it'll take me to finish the current page!

As for the others, there's been a bit of stitching here and there, so hopefully I'll be able to provide a bigger update soon. I like when it gets to winter, you can throw something interesting on the TV, put the sewing lamp on and stitch for the evening, all cosy and homey.

Hope everyone else is doing ok, I'm looking forward to seeing what things you've all been upto, so I'll catch up this weekend hopefully.  Along with a bit of baking for Hubby's Macmillan Coffee Morning.

Moonlit Waters Page 4 finished

Hooray! Finally!

It feels like such a huge achievement when I finish a single page of this project.  I see other people whizzing through their HAEDs but I like to have a few things on the go, especially since I stitch away from home quite a bit, so it's nice to have multiple projects.

But anyway, here's a picture of pages 1-4.  It's definitely coming on nicely.

Moonlit Waters February update

I wanted to post my updates a little more often so that I can keep a better record of how I'm getting on, so here's where I'm at with Moonlit Waters at the moment.  I've had a couple of solid stitching days recently and I'm glad to get back onto the moon colours.  It's quite hard to take photos which show the detail in the left hand side, but I think this one came out ok!

I am very much hoping to get this page finished by the end of March.

Moonlit Waters Page 3 complete (ish)

Well, apart from the very small bit of a wing which I am leaving until I get to the page beneath it, I've completed page 3 of Moonlit Waters and it's starting to come together a bit more.  I am utterly sick of moon colours!

Woohoo!

I'm so glad to see the back of this page, I can't believe it's taken me 5 months.  So much confetti around the trees, but I've kept going through it and it's done... hooray! Just 34 pages left to go :)

Having a little change for a while as I'm stitching up something halloweeny for the in-laws next...Feel like I need a little break from the big piece and to have other finishes this year.  But first, I'm going to have a weekend off.

Moonlit Waters update - Page 1 finished!

Hello there,

Well, I feel pretty good today.  I've been working quite solidly this weekend on Moonlit Waters.  Since it's been a bank holiday, my goal was to finish page one and I just put the final stitch in that page, so I'm pretty happy that there's still a little bit of the evening left.  There has been a lot of black and navy and purple in page 1, but from the look of page 2 we get to move onto some other colours, which is great.

I'm finding the HAED a lot of fun, but I'm not stitching exclusively on it.  I guess it's my 'home' project, but I have a few others on the go whilst I'm travelling.  I even managed to put some stitches in on a tiny project during my tube journeys, which is quite nice.  This does mean that since I've gone back to work, progress is slower than I would like, but not really anything I can do about that.

I'm finding working a block at a time quite a good way to do things, not as difficult as I thought and I'm pretty happy to say that there hasn't been much unpicking so far (touch wood).  I think it's easier to keep track of the confetti in a 10x10 square and much more manageable that way.

Moonlit Waters update

Hello all,

I thought it was about time for an update on Moonlit Waters.  I've not got as far as I expected to after a month, and the colours didn't quite come out as they actually are, but I'm still in the dark corner for now.

Hopefully lots more to update on next month, otherwise at this rate it's going to be many, many years until I get finished!

Biggest challenge so far

I've done it.  I've finally started my first HAED.  My new frame arrived today, I ripped it out of the package as soon as I got home and set it up.

I've chosen to do Moonlit Waters, a Julie Fain design... it's really pretty.  It's the first time I've tried 25 count, and I'm stitching on DMC gridded fabric, perhaps it's cheating but given that it's my first one, it just makes life a ton easier.  So far I've done almost 400 stitches and it covers this miniscule area of fabric... I think this one is gonna take a while.

Progress and photos to come periodically, I think probably about once a month.  Oh, I also need to get some new batteries for the light on my magnifier... I just wish summer would hurry up and get here so I can have nice long daylight hours!

Well, that's all for tonight, it's already past my bedtime.
